Physiatrist/Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Bergsten has a deep understanding of the field of medicine and a passion for medical education. He currently works with at the North Battlefield Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is currently affiliated with VA hospital in Hampton, Virginia.
In addition to his medical expertise, he is also skilled in communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal leadership. These skills make him a valuable asset to any educational institution, as he is able to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, and patients, and lead in a way that promotes collaboration and mutual respect.
Dr. Bergsten received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004, before completing his residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2008.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Bergsten is board-certified by the American Board of Physical medicine and Rehabilitation.
Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
